| Violeta Ava Cosma. Call me Violet, never Vi. Born in Romania, emigrated to New York City and now a resident of Forks, Washington. Senior at Forks High. Likes eyeliner, music and taking dips in the ocean. Doesn't like the smell of cinnamon. |
| PERSONALITY |
| Though it is against her better judgement, Violeta is social and makes attempts to interact with humans as much as she can. She can sometimes be considered "weird" and she accepts that about herself. She is laid back, and only ever gets frustrated when it is something she's passionate about, such as music and books. She is still trying to come to terms with being a vampire, but she hides it well with the only outward sign being an occasional gloomy expression on her face or an angry expression, when she thinks of the one who changed her. Violeta knows that she must do it to survive, but she has problems when it comes to feeding from animals and justifies it by imagining that she is living a millennia ago with no other choice but to kill for her food. One day she wants to possess enough self-control to be able to have a pet cat without even thinking of feeding from it. |
| HISTORY |
| Shortly after her birth in 1896, Violeta's parents, Corina and Dragos Cosma, made the decision to emigrate from Bucharest, Romania to New York City in the hope of giving their baby daughter and their two year old son, Andre, a better life. As the years passed in America, her life was relatively uneventful until a few weeks before her eighteenth birthday. It was just after eight at night when she was walking home from her job at the bakery a few streets away from her house when she noticed the man following her. She hurried home and when she reached the small apartment she shared with her parents, she looked out of her window and saw that he was gone. A week later notes started to arrive for her, and he soon began showing up at the bakery. Afraid to worry her parents and friends, Violeta kept it quiet. On the night of her birthday, Violeta was asked to close the bakery on her own. Just as she slipped the key into the lock of the back door, she felt fangs pierce her neck, excruciating pain throughout her body, and then everything went black. She awoke three days later to find her stalker by her bedside. After he explained what she had become, Violeta, angry and out of control from her change destroyed the vampire. She spent the next thirty years living off the blood of humans, and then in 1943, after seeing a photo of an emaciated young child rescued from a concentration camp on the front page of a newspaper, she decided to make a complete lifestyle change. She felt that killing humans, even for her own life, was just as terrible, and she could no longer bring herself to take human life. She left New York City and moved into the Appalachian mountains to live off the blood of animals. It took an extraordinary amount of self-control, but by the early nineties, she was ready to live among humans. |
